(I just realized this book never made it over to Booklikes from Goodreads. I read this back in 2012 and enjoyed it-as much as it can be enjoyed, anyway.)
This one was dark and depressing. The author has a strange writing style that took a little while to get used to. There are no commas and no quotation marks. There is very little dialogue going on.
Despite the darkness and the ash that covers everything, I found the story to be hopeful. I also found the writing to be lyrical at times. The words the author chose really brought home the vast emptiness that the characters were facing. I enjoyed this book, but I'm pretty sure that I will never re-read it.
